Composed by seven states - Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins - and occupying the half of the Brazilian territory approximately, the North Area is ideal for the ones that look for ecotourism adventures. This area offers a rare opportunity to live the Amazon Forest, largest biological reservation of the world, with an unequaled potential in natural resources, where there is a third of the alive species of the planet.

The rivers of the Amazon Basin, that has a fifth of the reservation of fresh water in the planet, are roads that lead to the heart of the jungle. Of the twenty largest rivers in the planet, ten are part of the Amazon Basin. Rio Amazonas, with its 5.500 Km of extension is one to them.

Hotels of Jungle provide comfort and safety for the exploration and the discovery of the immense flora and fauna of the area. The folklore and the amazon cookery with their regional products also offer special attractions. In Parintins, the Folkloric Festival of the " Boi-Bumbá ", in the month of June, it wakes up the passion in colors different groups. In Manaus, capital of the state of Amazonas, you will also be able to know the Teatro Amazonas, built in the 19th century, in renascence style and with and art-nouveau interior.

The color of the indigenous art, feathered necklaces and ceramic " marajoara " and " tapajônica ", are for sale at the traditional market of Ver-O-Peso (See-the-weight) in Belém, state of Pará.

Another great attraction is the Island of Marajó, known by the phenomenon of the Pororoca (bore), encounter of Rio Amazonas with the Atlântic Ocean. The Island of the Bananal, in the state of Tocantins, is the largest fluvial island of the world, possessing beautiful beaches and abundant fishes.
