Rio Grande do Sul is the most southern State of Brazil. Its capital, Porto Alegre, is a great city, with all the charm of its inhabitants that received influences from several european immigrations, mainly from the north of Italy, Germany, Portugal and Spain.
In general, Rio Grande do Sul landscape can be described as an extensive slope, dominated to the north by a plateau. Only 11% of its territory surpass the 600 meters of altitude, 70% are less than 300 meters.
The State presents typical subtropical climatic characteristics, with temperatures varying strongly, from 35⩝C summer till occasional snowfall, with an average well below 18ºC.
RGS produces tobacco, sugar cane, and delicious grapes. Main brazilian producer of rice, wheat, soy, English potato, corn, bean, cassava and tea (cha-mate).

The metropolitan area of Porto Alegre is the most developed of the whole South area.
The European colonization left its mark and the " gauchos ", as they are called, speak a language to strong argentinean influence and some still use the wide baggy pants.

The Rio Grande do Sul coat possesses beaches that enchant the visitor, as Torres (Towers), Tramandaí, Capon of the Canoe, Atlantic, among others.
